- We all love to Netflix y relajarse, so why not learn something at the same time? “Las Crónicas del Taco” (Taco Chronicles) and “Nuestra Lucha Libre” (Our Lucha Libre) are two shows about some of my favorite things in life – tacos and wrestling! Both shows are very entertaining and are in Spanish with English subtitles, so it’s a great way to practice your listening comprehension. 4-5 COMPLETE Spanish phrases telling what you understood or your thoughts on the tacos you went out and tried!!
- Watch: 9 types of Spanish Accents and reflect/summarize it in 4-5 COMPLETE Spanish phrases.

- Investigate 5 of Spain's many festivals by visiting the míralo page and watching videos collected by my students. Which festival would you be interested in attending and why? Tell me about it in 4-5 complete Spanish phrases.
- Watch a Spanish Telenovela or TV show for 30 minutes (with parental permission). Give me the summary of the episode in 4-5 complete Spanish ideas.

- Analyze the “Why it pays to be Bilingual” infographic and write a summary in SPANISH or response in SPANISH of 4 of the most surprising facts you discovered.

- PUNTOS DOBLES Watch an entire movie (THIS REQUIRES A PARENT SIGNATURE TO ATTEST TO YOUR HAVING SPENT 60+ MINUTES ENGAGED IN A SPANISH LANGUAGE FILM) and give me a list of 5 new phrases in both Spanish and English that you learned from it OR summarize in 4-5 Spanish sentences with the language set to Spanish (Disney is great for this) or an authentic Spanish movie. Here are a few Spanish language movies available on Netflixt:

- The Sea Inside (a bit sad but beautiful)

- * Complete a song in Spanish on http://lyricstraining.com. You can get a free account or just jump right in on the main page. At the top-right of the page, CHOOSE SPANISH!!! At the top-left, CHOOSE GENRE. Tell me the artist, title, and 5 new phrases in Spanish/English. This is fun stuff!!! Music = easy learning
- Listen to a Spanish-language radio for 30 minutes (Radio Lobo 97.7, http://pandora.com orhttp://batanga.com). In 4-5 Spanish sentences describe what you heard, what you liked/did not like, and/or any songs/artist names you came across that were awesome.
- Read/Reflect about a famous Latino musician or artist on http://wikipedia.org or on http://coloquio.com/famosos/alpha.htm Tell me in 4-5 complete Spanish sentences about this person's life.
- Pick a Latino musician (see Menu item: Música on my main spanishporras Weebly page!) to focus on and watch 1 of their Spanish music videos on YouTube. Reflect on the experience… 4-5 Spanish sentences (could be new phrases, your opinion of the music, how your life relates to this song)

- Memorize and present a commercial in Spanish- use YouTube for ideas!!
- Do TIMED VERBS practice with a verb tense you struggle with or ALL tenses by clicking in the menu under "Verbos: Timed Practice". Screenshot or take photo of your results!!! Aim for 80%+
- Read a chapter book from the library. See photo below. You will give a summary by week for each chapter. Many of these books could therefore last you 8-9 weeks if you wanted the challenge. *See image at top for a few of the selection or ask Mrs. Dunkel for a list. She's happy to show you where they're located!
- Pintrest: Create a Pintrest page called "Español V" and add at least 5 memes in Spanish that you like. For the
HW paper, write the phrase and translation. Also, I will look up your page, so include your Pintrest name. - Super Slide Video with a book you're going to read at bilingual reading time - Publish to our YouTube Channel (name of channel: Spanish 5 Bellevue East)
- Tell a joke in Spanish- make sure you recall the punch line well!!!! Write in both Spanish and English
- (Hazlo category) Choose a topic and screenshot a perfect "practice test" score on TWO topics!! http://www.spanishdict.com/topic
- Find a poem in Spanish that utilizes the current grammar topic and recite 5 lines by memory
- *Create a 30 second animated avatar using any vocabulary used in class on http://voki.com. EMAIL the embed script (as well as the script) to me: [email protected]
- Create a video about yourself that is no more than 1 minute in length. You can highlight basic facts about self (name, age, likes/dislikes, hobbies) or a thematic topic (My Favorite Food, My Favorite Place in My House, My Little Brother). Say at least 5 COMPLETE sentences. Email it to me or publish on our Spanish 5 YouTube site.
- *Create a free 10-paneled cartoon in Spanish using http://goanimate.com. EMAIL the embed link (as well as your script) to me: [email protected]
- With my "Study Abroad" tab, choose a place you want to go and tell me why. 4-5 complete sentences in Spanish.
- Read a news story from the "News in Spanish" tab on my Weebly page. Write me 4-5 sentences detailing what it was about and/or your opinions on the story.
- *Read a memorized-poem/song to the class. You may create your own in Spanish if you like. You may make an appt. after school to present to Sra. Porras if public speaking is not your thing.
- *Go to a Latino restaurant with a friend. Using your phone or a camera, record a video of your meal along with commentary in Spanish (must be 1 minute in length). If you send the video to my email, perhaps I’ll share your video with the class. p.s. Taco Bell doesn’t count !!!!!!
- "Quien Salta", "Soy gran camioneta", "Clifford" - make a YouTube video for these books that have not been
read yet by anyone. You will also need to add in 5 words or phrases as subtitles. - *Draw something that represents at least 4 places and/or regional phrases from a Latin America country - have fun with searching "All things El Salvador", "Clean slang Guatemala," "How to Speak Mexican Spanish," etc...
- *Using Post-It Notes and a Spanish-English dictionary, label 10 items in your house (that you already don’t know in Spanish). Leave the Post-Its for a week. Photo-document your notes! Then, from memory, recite the words to me in Spanish OR in front of the class.
- Record yourself for a minimum of 3 minutes explaining a topic in Spanish to someone wanting to learn (or pretending to). Make sure he/she demonstrates back the knowledge gleaned from you (example: how to ask for someone's name, age, and age. OR how to conjugate the future tense, etc)
- Find OR create your own "adult coloring book"/"terapia de arte" pages for the moms at our bilingual reading time to give them someting to do while they wait for their kids. Create 3 different pages that have a one sentence "mantra" that reflects the images. (example of mantra "Life is peace and peace is life" BUT IN SPANISH)
- Day of the Dead: Create a 8 box layout explaining what each element represents for Día de los Muertos in

- TWITTER CHAT: #spanstuchat (stands for Spanish Student Chat) 1st & 3rd Tuesday EACH MONTH! 8-9pm. To "prove" you were involved: show me your tweets w/ your responses during the chat ALL of which end with #spanstuchat
- APP- Voxer Free (walkie talkies): Have a 10 line conversation going back and forth w/ a friend (5 full sentences per person) about a topic of your choice. Has to have a "theme" not just "hey", "how are you?" PLAY IT FOR ME ON TUESDAY AFTER CLASS- write on your HW sheet "Voxer messages"
- Teach at least 5 Spanish phrases or a song in Spanish to someone else (any age. In your paragraph, tell me who you taught, what you taught, and whether or not your lesson was a success)
- Post a video to our page that deals w/ Spanish language, culture, etc that is of interest to you. Post to our page. Write me a 4-5 phrase summary in Spanish about it.
- Make a video and send to Mrs. Porras: For the books "El autobús amarillo", "El monstruo debajo de mi cama",
- Interview a friend who is a Native Speaker with at least 5 questions in Spanish and videotape the conversation. Write about how the experience went and share the video with me. ***Does NOT require paragraph
- Find three household items (laundry detergent, Windex, etc.) and read the Spanish instructions/warning labels found on the back to a parent or sibling. Take photos of the items and email to me: [email protected] ***For the writing part of this, on your yellow sheet, tell me 4 new phrases from the warning in both Span and Eng.
- Change your Facebook language to Spanish and play on FB for 30 minutes. ***For the writing part of this, on your yellow sheet, tell me what 5 FB-related words are in both Span and Eng.
- Change your cell phone/iPod/other electronic device’s language to Spanish for 2 days. Write a 4-5 line response in Spanish telling me how this went. What did you feel? Was there confusion? Did this frustrate you? Why or why not???
- Find a new Spanish-language App for your iPhone and write a 4-5 sentence description of what it's used for, your opinion of it, what you learned, etc.
- Apps! Download the free iPhone app "Memrise" or “Duolingo” --- With Memrise earn at least 6,000 points and SHOW ME THAT. You can screen shot it and email or show me at the start of class. Show me the screen at start of class to "prove" this. With Duolingo show me your progress. I will be checking what level you are at. Duolingo is a favorite of MANY students- it will give you a placement test at the start of setting up your account.
- Download the APP iTranslate Voice (free version) and test how well it translates 4 phrases. To use the app you select the US flag and the Spanish flag. Click once on the US flag and say a phrase. It will then put it into Spanish for you. Tell me what was right and wrong about the translations. Write down the SPANISH translations it gave you and if there is anything you'd change about it, PUT IT IN A COLORED PEN AND FIX IT SO THAT I CAN SEE WHAT YOU FIXED

- Indicate which activity you have chosen by placing the date you completed it to the left of the bullet on your yellow sheet. Yellow sheets = 1 month of Tareas Semanales
- After completing the activity, write in Spanish your response/reflection. If no reflection is required (read
the assignment option descriptions above!), then you write how you proved your assignment by writing something like "Te mostré el App en mi teléfono" o "Te mandé por correo electrónico una foto de mis puntos" - You can describe your thoughts on the activity in the following manners: before you completed it, or
what you ultimately liked about it, what you disliked about it, the words in Spanish you understood/learned from it, what you had difficulty with, what you learned from it, etc. I must see clear evidence that the task has been completed in order for you to get full points on the assignment. - You must choose a different activity every week. After doing 4 different activities, you may choose one you’ve done previously.
- This formative grade is worth 100 HW formative points each week. These add up! Get out there w/
